Introduction: Completeness in filling Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) is an important indicator for ensuring service quality, patient safety, and smooth hospital administration. However, incomplete EMR filling remains a problem in various healthcare facilities. Preliminary data from the outpatient department of RSD Idaman Kota Banjarbaru for July–October 2025 showed an EMR completion rate of 60%–66%, while unfilled data reached 31%–36%. This study aimed to determine the relationship between staff motivation and the completeness of electronic medical record filling in the outpatient department of RSD Idaman Kota Banjarbaru.
Methods: This study used a quantitative method with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 82 healthcare workers selected using purposive sampling from a population of 102 people. Data were collected using a motivation questionnaire and an EMR completeness checklist, then analyzed using the Chi-Square test.
Results: The results showed that most respondents had good work motivation, while the completeness of EMR filling was in the moderate category. The Chi-Square test showed no significant relationship between staff motivation and the completeness of electronic medical record filling (p = 0.837; correlation coefficient = 0.023).
Conclusion: It was concluded that staff motivation was not significantly associated with EMR filling completeness. Hospitals need to continue improving supervision, monitoring, evaluation, and support for staff to improve the quality of electronic medical record documentation.
