Abstract

Hypertension is a health problem characterized by an increase in blood pressure reaching 150/90 mmHg. Uncontrolled hypertension can trigger degenerative diseases such as heart disease and stroke. To control blood pressure, patients with hypertension can receive complementary therapy by utilizing celery leaves. Celery leaves contain active compounds such as apigenin, which are beneficial for controlling blood pressure. The purpose of this writing is to implement the administration of boiled celery leaf water to control pain in patients with hypertension.

This study used a case study method that explored a phenomenon within defined boundaries, involving in-depth data collection and various sources of information. The case study was limited by time and place, and the cases studied included events, activities, or individuals. The selection of respondents was restricted based on criteria determined by the researcher.

The therapy of administering boiled celery leaf water to reduce blood pressure was carried out for four days by the researcher. The results showed a decrease in pain response after the administration of the celery leaf decoction to the respondents.

The therapy of boiled celery leaf water can be used as a non-pharmacological treatment for clients with hypertension. After the administration of the celery leaf decoction, the respondents’ pain responses decreased. This proves that the therapy of boiled celery leaf water is an effective non-pharmacological intervention to control pain in patients with hypertension.
