Abstract

Adolescence is a crucial developmental period because it is during this stage that individuals begin to prepare themselves for their future lives. Eleventh-grade students are adolescents who have already begun to think about various matters related to education, careers, aspirations, and the life goals they wish to achieve. Based on preliminary observations conducted at MA Hidayatullah on May 25, 2026, it was found that several 11th-grade students were still struggling to define their life goals and plan for the future. These observations were conducted by monitoring student activities in the classroom and conducting brief interviews with guidance counselors. This study employed a qualitative research method. The qualitative method was used to understand and describe how reality counseling using the WDEP technique is applied. The study was conducted at MA Hidayatullah, Sempol, Wringin, Bondowoso, with 11th-grade students as the participants. Reality counseling using the WDEP technique helps students become aware of their life goals through the “Want” stage, in which students are encouraged to express and understand the aspirations and hopes they wish to achieve. This helped students who were previously confused to gain greater clarity about their life direction, including Student B, who finally began to seek a sense of purpose, as well as Students C and D, who were able to identify their desires despite economic constraints.
