Abstract

The government in Indonesia is driven by the spirit of reform to implement the principles of good governance, address practices of corruption, collusion, and nepotism (KKN), and provide public goods and services. Decentralization through Law No. 22/1999 and Law No. 23/2014 grants greater authority to regional governments. Village heads play a strategic role according to Law No. 6/2014, including governance, development, community guidance, and empowerment. Good governance encompasses participation, rule of law, transparency, responsiveness, consensus orientation, equity, effectiveness and efficiency, accountability, and strategic vision. This study employs an empirical legal research method with a qualitative descriptive and socio-legal approach to examine the implementation of Law No. 6/2014 in Sumberwringin Village. The results indicate that the principles of good governance have been applied, but are not yet optimal due to low community participation and limited human resources. Efforts by the village government, such as improving staff work discipline and conducting training through seminars, workshops, and comparative studies, aim to enhance public services, build community trust, and encourage citizen participation in village development.
