Abstract

The Merdeka Curriculum requires students to be active, creative, and innovative in solving problems through a deep learning approach centered on the learner. This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to enhance students' problem-solving skills and science learning outcomes (IPAS) in Grade V at MI Nurul Falah Tanah Wulan Maesan Bondowoso through the implementation of the Think Pair Square Talkball Share (TPSTS) learning model combined with a deep learning approach. The research subjects comprised 36 Grade V students (20 male and 16 female) during the second semester of the 2025/2026 academic year. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, tests, and documentation, following the Hopkins CAR model across two cycles. The results showed a significant improvement in both parameters. The mean score for problem-solving skills increased from 45.55 ± 22.22 at pre-cycle to 87.27 ± 7.67 in Cycle I, and reached 94.24 ± 7.08 in Cycle II. Cognitive learning mastery increased from 19.44% at pre-cycle to 75.00% in Cycle I, and further rose to 94.44% in Cycle II. Additionally, the average affective learning score increased from 71.20 ± 15.84 in Cycle I to 88.63 ± 11.39 in Cycle II. In conclusion, the implementation of the deep learning approach integrated with the TPSTS model successfully enhances students' problem-solving skills and learning outcomes in IPAS.
